How has the #RedForEd movement evolved since the teacher pay raise?

To the surprise of all political experts, an ad hoc group of volunteers, organized themselves as “Save our Schools” and got a school voucher expansion repeal on the ballot.

Teachers organized as “Red for Ed” and got the state Legislature to pass a 9 percent raise, with promise of 10 percent more to come in the next two years.

That is POWER.

But is this a flash in the pan, or will this power be sustainable?

What’s happened since the end of the legislative session/end of the school year?

How many teachers are running for public office? What kinds of help are they getting from their supporters?

An all-star panel joins the Think Tank this week, to shed light on this potentially transformative new force in Arizona politics:

• Jennifer Samuels (D), a teacher running for the Arizona house in Legislative District 15
• Kristine Kelly (R), a teacher running for the Arizona Senate in Legislative District 23
