Police investigating after body of dead woman found in Gilbert dog park

PHOENIX — Officials with the Gilbert Police Department were investigating the death of a woman after her body was found in a dog park on Sunday.

Officers responded to a 911 call around 6 a.m. at Cosmo Dog Park near Ray Road and the Loop 202 freeway.

The woman was identified as 56-year-old Toni Phearse.

Police did not immediately say how the woman may have died.

Police said there are no public safety concerns, but the park will remain closed until Tuesday while the investigation is ongoing.
