A 13-year-old has died and six other people have been hospitalized after a two-vehicle car accident occurred Monday night in Goodyear.
PHOENIX — A 13-year-old has died and at least six other people have been hospitalized after a two-vehicle accident Monday night in Goodyear.
Lisa Kutis, a spokeswoman with the Goodyear Police Department, told KTAR News 92.3 FM that the accident happened around 7:45 p.m. in the area of Yuma Road and Sarival Avenue.
The accident occurred after the driver of a pick-up truck allegedly failed to stop at a red light and rear-ended the other vehicle, which was stopped at the light.
Kutis said those hospitalized had injuries ranging from minor to serious.
The teenager, who was sitting in a passenger seat of the stopped car, was taken for treatment of critical injuries. He was identified Tuesday as Edgar Nunez-Hernandez.
The pick-up driver, a 30-year-old man, was driving with two children, ages 5 and 3.
A 59-year-old man, a 46-year-old woman and a 11-year were also in the car with the teenager.
Police said driver impairment did not appear to be a factor in the crash.
