IHOP changes name to IHOB, internet has a lot of fun

The International House of Pancakes, aka IHOP, tricked the internet into talking about it Monday after revealing a temporary name change to IHOB — “b” for burgers.

On the plus side, a lot of the talk was hilarious, especially on Twitter.

We do make some pretty delicious Crispers and Waffles but we didn't change our name to Waffle's.

Remember when you were like 7 and thought changing your name to Thunder BearSword would be super cool?
Like that, but our cheeseburgers are still better.

IHOP began teasing the name change a week ago on social media, then came the big announcement.

Dear Internet, we abbreciate your batience. Now let’s see who guessed right. B-hold!!!!! #IHOb pic.twitter.com/Fh3SkZ7s3Y

Burgers! The chain known for a breakfast staple has added more hamburgers to the menu.

Then came the big reaction from competitors:

Not really afraid of the burgers from a place that decided pancakes were too hard.

As much as we love our pancakes, we'd never change our name to Whatapancake

👦: Grandpa, do you remember the Great Burger Wars?
👴: lol no I was chillin drinkin milkshakes and trying to make sense of Westworld

We’re as serious about pancakes as @IHOb is about burgers https://t.co/IQ7J2TX47T

The name change won’t last that long, and most of the restaurants will still go by IHOP, but the company changed signs and its Twitter handle.
