PHOENIX — Since 2007, SanTan Brewing Company has been strictly a beer business.
That all changed after the company unveiled a new line of spirits over the Memorial Day weekend.
After three years of research, testing and tasting, SanTan Brewing Company is proud to officially announce SanTan Distilling,” the company said in a press release.
“The new division, along with our current breweries and pubs, will fly under one flag as ‘SanTan Brewery, Distillery + Eatery’, or in short as ‘SanTan Brewing + Distilling.’”
Using over 25 years of experience as a chef, head distiller Brant Gasparek has handcrafted small-batch whiskeys and vodkas.
“Brant’s culinary background serves him in identifying and isolating the essential flavor components born from the distillation process. He has selected the cuts that have already won six awards,” founder and brewmaster Anthony Canecchia said.
The first spirits released over the holiday weekend were two vodkas, SanTan Vodka and Kaffir Lime Vodka, and the Sacred Stave American Single Malt Whiskey, which won a gold medal in the 2018 American Distilling Institute Awards.
The two vodkas earned bronze medals in the 2018 San Francisco World Spirits Competition with the Kaffir Lime winning the silver medal in the 2018 American Distilling Institute Awards.
“We are thrilled to now offer award-winning spirits with our already amazing beer portfolio. With years of solid growth coming from our loyal customers and beer distributors across Arizona, it allows us the opportunity to provide Arizona with premier craft beer, and now craft spirits,” national sales director Matt Neuman said.
According to the company’s website, the whiskey has a candied fruit, floral honey taste with a dry and slightly sweet finish.
The Kaffir Lime Vodka has a soft natural kaffir lime taste with a hint of malty sweetness, while the SanTan Vodka had a soft and smooth taste with a short and clean finish.
