PHOENIX — A new bus route connecting Phoenix to Las Vegas will begin on May 25, via the travel service Megabus.com.

Megabus is a transportation company that serves more than 100 cities across North America.

The route from Phoenix to Las Vegas was advertised as a five-and-a-half hour trip at under $14.99 dollars per person.

Travelers can purchase a trip from Las Vegas to Phoenix for less than one dollar but the travel times bounce up to more than six hours because of a stop in Glendale. That offer was only available for the first two days of the new route, May 25 and 26.

Their specially made double-deck buses offer amenities such as free Wi-Fi, power outlets and panoramic windows.

The Phoenix hub for Megabus was located at Central Station near the corner of Central Avenue and Van Buren Street.

In Las Vegas, the bus will drop passengers off at the South Strip Transfer Terminal near McCarran International Airport.

This was the first route the company has established either to or from downtown Phoenix. The company had routes previously to and from hubs in both Glendale and Tempe.
