A driver ran a red light and hit a police car on Saturday morning, the Gilbert Police Department said.

A passenger in the vehicle and a police officer were taken to the hospital. Neither appear to be in serious condition; Sgt. Mark Marino called it a “precautionary measure.”

The vehicle, heading eastbound, did not stop for a red light and hit the northbound police car on Greenfield and Guadalupe Roads.

Police do not believe the driver was impaired.
