PHOENIX — Expect a big party in downtown Phoenix in October. That’s when laid-back, good-time singer Jimmy Buffett will stop by with his colorful brand of entertainment.
Buffett will bring his Son of a Son of a Sailor Tour 2018 to Talking Stick Resort Arena on Oct. 13. Showtime was set for 8 p.m.
“This will be the party of the year in downtown Phoenix,” arena general manager Ralph Marchetta said in a press release.
Tickets go on sale April 23 at 10 a.m. at the arena and Ticketmaster online or by phone at 1-800-745-3000.
Buffett’s backup, the Coral Reef Band, will also make the trip.
He hasn’t been in the Valley since 2013.
The 71-year-old songwriter best known for late 1970s hits “Margaritaville” and “Cheeseburger in Paradise” has parlayed his popularity into success in other fields.
His fans, who proudly call themselves “Parrotheads,” have helped him open two restaurant chains, a retirement village, an Atlantic City casino and even a Broadway show, “Escape to Margaritaville.”
The tour opened in Baltimore in late March. The Phoenix date will come on the heels of nearly a week of shows in Paris.
After Phoenix, Buffett and the band will play in Salt Lake City (Oct. 17) and close out in Las Vegas (Oct. 20).
Valley concert venues have been plenty busy booking shows for the year.
Justin Timberlake will bring his tour to the Valley in May; comedian and actor Kevin Hart and Arizona violinist Lindsey Stirling will follow in July and Beyonce and Jay-Z will drop by in September.
