PHOENIX — At least 18 people were arrested on the Fort Apache Indian Reservation in eastern Arizona last week on a variety of charges, the Federal Bureau of Investigation announced Wednesday.
The FBI, state and local law enforcement officers executed 18 federal arrest warrants on the reservation on March 22, resulting in 18 arrests.
The warrants included charges for first degree murder, second degree murder, involuntary manslaughter, domestic violence, kidnapping, assault resulting in serious bodily injury, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, assault with a dangerous weapon, strangulation and interstate threatening communications.
Six tribal arrest warrants were also executed, the bureau said.
It was not clear whether those warrants were executed in tandem with the federal warrants.
The FBI said in a press release that four prisoners who escaped from the White Mountain Apache Department of Corrections on March 21 were also arrested within 24 hours of their escape.
Authorities are asking the public to be on the lookout for Anthony Johnson, a 41-year-old Native American male.
Johnson was indicted on charges relating to the possession and intent to distribute methamphetamines.
He was described as a five-foot, 10-inch tall man who is approximately 270 pounds.
Anyone with information about Johnson’s whereabouts was encouraged to call local law enforcement or the FBI at 623-466-1999.
