Mesa police find missing teen safe in Gilbert

The Mesa Police Department was asking for assistance from the public in locating a missing 13-year-old girl.

Samantha Montero-Gutierrez was reported missing Sunday and was last seen at her home at 11:30 p.m. on Saturday around Southern and Emelita avenues in Mesa. Montero-Gutierrez was found later Sunday safe and in good condition in Gilbert.

Montero-Gutierrez is 5-foot-2 and 125 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.

She usually wears a black knit cap and could be carrying a black backpack.
