PHOENIX — Are you hungry yet? If so, you might not want to continue reading: A Tempe-based business will be represented on the latest season of a popular Food Network show.
According to a press release, Marissa Delgado, the executive sous chef for the Tempe-based company Santa Barbara Catering, will be on the upcoming season of Food Network’s “Chopped.”
Santa Barbara Catering is a full-service catering company. It also is sister corporations with The Farm at South Mountain and operates Palette, the restaurant at the Phoenix Art Museum.
The company itself has also been named as International Caterer of the Year by the International Catering Association and has been in operation for more than 25 years.
Delgado herself has been a chef at Santa Barbara Catering for seven years.
“[Delgado’s] spunky attitude and creative culinary skills were a perfect fit for her on-screen debut,” the press release said. “Delgado is known for her molecular gastronomy and pastry experience, but with her catering background, her culinary knowledge is endless.”
In a statement, Delgado said she was proud to represent Arizona and the catering industry during her debut on national television.
“My culinary depth as a catering chef helped to prepare me for this fast paced challenge,” she said. “Also, having executed so many different custom menus for our clients, I was able to quickly plan a creative strategy during the competition.”
Delgado’s episode will premiere on Food Network on Feb. 13 at 8 p.m. Arizona time.
