Phoenix-area child transported to hospital with gunshot wound

A 4-year-old Phoenix boy was transported to a local hospital after suffering a non life-threatening gunshot wound, Phoenix police said Monday.

PHOENIX – A 4-year-old Phoenix boy was transported to a local hospital after suffering a non life-threatening gunshot wound, Phoenix police said Monday.

According to a statement, police responded to a residence near 19th Avenue and Cactus Road in Phoenix at around 5:15 p.m.

The child’s gunshot wound was initially reported to be self-inflicted, but police say they are now investigating the circumstances surrounding the injury.

The child is expected to survive his injuries.
