PHOENIX — With Christmas right around the corner, candystore.com decided to find out which candy states like the most.
With the National Confectionary Association estimating holiday candy sales of more than a billion dollars, the website conducted a survey — of more than 50,000 customers — to see what candy reigns supreme.
For Arizona, it’s not Skittles or Hershey Kisses — which were second and third in the state, respectively — that took the top spot, it was Pez.
I wonder if there are Pez dispensers in the shape of telescopes. If so, you’d probably find them in Tuscon where they have the most telescopes in the world. AZ loves Pez at Christmas time, and Pez do make good gifts and easy, fun stocking stuffers. Skittles came in second, followed by Hershey Kisses.
Arizona wasn’t the only state to go for Pez and its dispensers.
Wisconsin, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Louisiana, Texas and New Mexico all have the same craving for the candy.
States like Minnesota and Illinois went a different route, going with Jolly Ranchers, while numerous states either chose peppermint bark — California, Nevada, Kansas, West Virginia — or M&M’s — Idaho, Wyoming, Connecticut, among others.
