PHOENIX — Tickets to the men’s NCAA Final Four games that were played in the Phoenix area in April were some of the most expensive sold on a popular ticket resale site.

In a press release, Vivid Seats said tickets for a seat inside University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale for the games went for the median price of $679.

That number was the 10th-highest median price Vivid Seats recorded this year.

More than 150,000 people attended the semifinal and championship games, the second-largest crowd in the event’s history.

The Final Four was the second-highest median ticket price for a college sporting event this year. Only the collegiate national championship game between Alabama and Clemson had a higher median at $1,225.

The Final Four also beat our several major events, such as the Coachella Music Festival and Game 6 of the World Series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Houston Astros.

Overall, the most expensive event on the list was the Super Bowl between the Atlanta Falcons and New England Patriots. The median price for a ticket to that game was $3,650.

The other games that were costlier than the Final Four were every other game of the World Series and the Las Vegas title fight between Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin.

The Final Four was a financial boon for the Phoenix area. Officials estimated it pumped more than $324 million into the economy.

About $11.7 million in revenue was generated in taxes that will be split between cities, Maricopa County and the state.

Phoenix-area hotel prices rose to their second-highest ever level during the Final Four.
