2 individuals found dead at Scottsdale apartment complex

PHOENIX – The Scottsdale Police Department is investigating the death of two individuals found Friday afternoon at an apartment complex in Scottsdale.

According to police, the mother of 25-year-old Veronica Birk notified Scottsdale police to request a welfare check for her daughter after not hearing from her for a week.

When officers arrived at the Cibola Apartment Complex in Scottsdale, Birk and 24-year-old Brock Haman were found deceased inside a bathroom of one of the residences.

Police said evidence of narcotics use was present at the scene, and that the two victims appeared to have been deceased for some time.

Police said evidence at the scene indicated that the two young adults died as a result of drug use, but the Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine their causes of death.

The investigation is ongoing, but there are no outstanding suspects at this time.
