PHOENIX — A major highway near downtown Phoenix will be closed overnight during the weekend of Dec. 8 to allow crews to clean and repair a tunnel.
According to the Arizona Department of Transportation, the westbound Interstate 10 will be closed between the Interstate 17 “Split” and Seventh Avenue near downtown Phoenix from 9 p.m. on Friday to 9 a.m. on Saturday.
The southbound SR 51 ramp to westbound I-10 will also be closed during the same time period. The westbound Loop 202 ramp to the westbound I-10 will be open, but all traffic will be forced to exit at Seventh Street.
The eastbound I-10 will also be closed between the I-17 “Split” and Seventh Avenue from 9 p.m. on Saturday to 9 a.m. on Sunday.
These closures will allow for the cleaning and maintenance of the Deck Park Tunnel.
The southbound I-17 will be narrowed to two lanes near Seventh Avenue from 9 p.m. on Friday to 5 a.m. on Monday for bridge work. Seventh Avenue will also be closed in both directions at I-17.
