PHOENIX — Foodies, you have something to look forward to after the holiday season.
In January, the Arizona Vegetarian Food Festival will take over the Scottsdale Civic Center Amphitheater.
The two-day event, in its fourth year, will feature everything from plant-based food and products and yoga to live music and activities for children. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Jan. 20 and 21.
The all-green wonderland will feature speakers that include Jason Wyrick, executive chef of the Vegan Taste; Rabbi Dr. Shmuly Yanklowitz; and Dominick Thompson, founder of Crazies and Weirdos, a start-up company that produces eco-friendly clothing. Kids 10 and under are free.
Attendees will have plenty of chances to taste different cuisines such as hummus and vegan pizza.
But the festival is more than food.
Vendors such as iApparel will try to continue a discussion about saving animals. One hoodie has the message, “Let’s Taco ’bout Saving Animals” for sale on its website.
Isagenix of Gilbert said they can help its clients with weight loss through a 30-day program and boost energy through nutritional cleansing products.
