State Route 51 near Phoenix to shut down during weekend of Oct. 27

PHOENIX — The entirety of a Phoenix-area freeway will be closed at different times throughout the weekend of Oct. 27, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

The northbound State Route 51 will be closed from 3 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, while the southbound portion of the highway will be closed from 3 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

These closures will allow crews to repair the pavement. All the ramps leading onto the highway will also be closed during those times.

But that is not the only Phoenix-area freeway or street that will be closed or restricted over the weekend.

The southbound Loop 101 on-ramp at Shea Boulevard will be closed from 11 p.m. on Friday to 6 a.m. on Sunday for maintenance.

The southbound Interstate 17 will be narrowed to two lanes between Camelback and Indian School roads from 9 p.m. on Friday to 9 a.m. on Saturday to allow crews to install a wrong-way vehicle detection system.

The northbound I-17 will be narrowed to two lanes between Bethany Home Road and Glendale Avenue from 9 p.m. on Saturday to 9 a.m. on Sunday for the installation of wrong-way vehicle detection system

67th Avenue will be closed in both directions at the Loop 101 from 9 p.m. on Friday to 6 p.m. on Saturday for traffic signal maintenance.

The westbound Interstate 10 off-ramp at 19th Avenue will be closed from 11 p.m. on Saturday to 10 a.m. on Sunday for fiber-optic cable work.

Pecos Road will be closed in both directions between 24th and 40th streets from 3 a.m. on Saturday to 5 a.m. on Monday for Loop 202 South Mountain Freeway utility work.

There will also be 20-minute closures along the following freeways to allow for overhead utility line work:

• I-10 near 59th Avenue between 5 a.m. and noon on Sunday

• I-17 from Thomas Road to Indian School Road between 11:30 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. on Sunday

• Loop 202 near SR 143 interchange between 4 a.m. and 10 a.m. on Sunday
