PHOENIX — Law enforcement was looking for a drug smuggler who skipped out on a court date in Pima County last month, authorities said.

The Arizona Attorney General’s Office said Mario Sergio Dorame was in court for all of his pretrial hearings but failed to show up for the actual trial.

Dorame was pulled over for a traffic violation in 2016. Arizona Department of Public Safety troopers allegedly found 70 pounds of cocaine in his truck.

Dorame pleaded guilty in 2010 to smuggling 279 pounds of marijuana in his car. In 2012, he was found guilty of stealing a car in Cochise County.

Anyone who spots Dorame was asked to call local law enforcement.

Why are they not posting the name of the idiots that let this guy out on bail? What judge, prosecutor agreed to this?

Certain crimes shouldn't be allowed bail, like I don't know say, drug/people smuggling. They are a flight risk. How many of the drug smugglers caught in Arizona are from south of the border, or have links to it? I'd say most or all of them that have hit the news in recent years. Not like a mafia in Chicago is sending their goons down here on the regular. This is cartel territory. See exhibit A.

With his criminal record, why was he not detained until his court date?
