Main Street Minute: Free golf for girls clinic set for Phoenix course

KTAR’s Main Street Minute focuses on local businesses that are hiring, opening and hosting events across the community. These stories air each weekday on KTAR at 7:27 a.m.

• Girls Golf of Phoenix is honoring Girls Golf Day by offering a full day of golf-related activities and a tournament at Papago Golf Course on Saturday. The event in Phoenix is open to girls 5 and older and includes a free clinic starting at 9:30 a.m.

• A couple of national chains are celebrating grand openings this weekend. Saturday, popular retailer Burlington will celebrate its new site near 48th Street and Ray Road in Phoenix with giveaways and family activities from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Also Saturday, Elements Massage will offer discounted massage sessions. The new location is near 23rd Avenue and Happy Valley Road.

• Get a free health screening Saturday. Walmart is teaming up with the American Diabetes Association for a wellness day between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at all its stores. Screenings are for blood pressure, blood glucose and BMI. Low-cost immunizations will also be available.
