A pair of Valley nonprofits have been awarded $7,000 to split for their youth literacy efforts and a tech school production company in Tempe is hiring.

• A pair of local nonprofits just got money to help youth. The Dollar General Literacy Foundation awarded A New Leaf in Mesa and Phoenix-based Chicanos por la Causa a combined $7,000 to support youth literacy efforts.
• UAT Game Studios is hosting a recruiting event Friday. The job fair runs from 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at the University of Advancing Technology office near Interstate 10 and Baseline Road in Tempe.
