Main Street Minute: Southwest adds nonstop Phoenix flight to NY

KTAR’s Main Street Minute focuses on local businesses that are hiring, opening and hosting events across the community. These stories air each weekday on KTAR at 7:27 a.m.

• Southwest Airlines is adding weekly nonstop service from Phoenix Sky Harbor to New York’s LaGuardia Airport. The Saturday-only flight begins April 14.

• Construction is underway on luxury apartments in Glendale. The Lofts at Westgate should open in January, on the third and fourth floors of a four-story building that houses several restaurants.

• Fry’s Food is holding a hiring event Thursday in Apache Junction. It runs from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. near Idaho Road and Apache Trail. The grocery chain has a number of full and part-time positions available, including meat clerks, cashiers and certified pharmacy techs.
