Law enforcement arrest 100 violent criminals in Valleywide operation
With the help of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Valley police departments made more than 100 arrests of violent crimes and cleared 355 felony warrants in the months of July and August as part of Operation Purge.
PHOENIX — Valley police departments made more than 100 arrests of violent crimes and cleared 355 felony warrants in the months of July and August as part of Operation Purge.
“The fastest way to make communities safe is to arrest known violent criminals,” Maricopa County Sheriff Paul Penzone said. “This is a priority for MCSO and for all local law enforcement.
“Our multi-agency operation got felons out of neighborhoods all over the Valley.”
Local law enforcement partnered with the FBI to arrest felons who were wanted for homicide, sexual assault, aggravated assault, robbery and burglary.
Out of 3,700 felony warrants that were reviewed and researched, 877 were believed to be located in Maricopa County and 130 were apprehended. Another 155 were dead and an additional 180 were already behind bars.
Police departments in Phoenix, Scottsdale, Mesa, Peoria, Gilbert, Buckeye, Paradise Valley and Chandler were involved in the operation.
“This is what law enforcement should look like,” Penzone said, “This will be a long term commitment to work together, but I call on the community to be our partner with us in this effort.
“Thirty thousand warrants is an astronomical number that is unacceptable and we’ll never be able to chip away at that number in totality unless we see support from the entire community.”
The remaining warrants are still under investigation.

A sheriff that is doing his job. How refreshing. And he didn't need to alert the nations media to have an "I love me" moment to do it.
So under Punch Penzone's catch and release program all illegals were released and given a court date.
I'm sure that the protest to kick off in a few hours at the council meeting will look down on police making these arrests. According to the event Facebook page (Denonunce Phoenix Protest Violence), police overreact to everything like they did at the Trump rally. They say the police attacked first (unprovoked and fully peaceful) and even if they weren't attacked first, it still wasn't justification for pepper spraying people or shooting GoDaddy Pepperballs in the groin. I mean, these violent criminals have jobs and families. The police have no right to arrest them. (**sarcasm**)
.
During the rally/protests I watched news feed and live streamed videos from folks on the ground for hours. Videos tell stories of not so peaceful protesters before the pepper spraying began, but I mean, who the heck am I right? My non-party affiliation makes me a fascist or communist supporter depending on which polarized whacko you talk to.
Great job you police are doing in removing criminals from the streets and keeping the community as safe as possible. IMO, only criminals and people who are anti-police hate you. They don't want police at all and I can't imagine a community or nation without you. People aren't kind enough to each other to police themselves. Just read how they treat each other on social media. Social media brings out a person's real personality.
