PHOENIX — The Goodwin Fire damaged much of the land around the Prescott area, causing evacuations to many towns and communities west of State Route 69.

Mayer, one of the towns that had to evacuate, has a historic landmark that is now closed not from fire damage, but because of flooding damage thanks to the Goodwin Fire.

Smitty’s Antiques Museum was forced to close its doors in July after recurring flash flooding problems in its parking lot, which was a direct cause of the widespread wildfire.

None of the collectible items were affected, however, and they are going to be auctioned off in Glendale beginning Saturday.

Over 30,000 items are set for bidding at EJ’s Auction & Consignment in Glendale. The auction will happen every Saturday for about five weeks.

Smitty’s Antiques Museum first opened as Apple Antique Shop in the 1960s and then became Smitty’s Antique Barn in the 1980s. It was featured on American Pickers in 2011.

Up for bid will be a collection of rare phonographs, reel-to-reels, audio equipment, Native American items, vintage gas pumps, porcelain signs, vintage toys, antique radios, clocks, jukeboxes, antique cash registers, glassware, antique telephones, farm implements, swords, taxidermy and more.

I agree. It's another reason to stop people from having fun in this city. If it's fun, It's illegal. This state sucks.

So lighting fireworks in a gratuitous government sponsored display (which spew excessive amounts of particulates btw) is ok, but a small chimney fire isn't?

Do they even know the meaning of a double standard? Or the word "hypocrisy?"

What a bunch of BS! This is all based on predictions not what the actual levels are. We live in the desert of Maricopa county where the is a constant wind blowing.
