PHOENIX — People like to wear the Arizona flag with pride on shirts, backpacks and even hats.

The same may happen soon specifically in Peoria, Arizona, with the city’s new flag.

The city has launched its first online product shop where people can purchase shirts, cellphone cases, tote bags, dog gear, keychains and more displaying the Peoria flag.

In a release, the city is calling the merchandise “Flag Swag.”

“The colors of our new flag portray Peoria’s own pallet, blending together to demonstrate a unified community and the shared principles of our past, present, and future,” said Mayor Cathy Carlat in a press release. “This flag carries significant meaning and I am thrilled to see so much excitement from our community – it is a wonderful representation of who Peoria is, and now residents can take a little piece of it home for themselves.”

The flag was introduced in March.

“We were pleasantly surprised with the positive citizen feedback we received not only about the new flag, but also requests for the city’s flag on every day products,” said Jeff Tyne, Peoria city manager, in a press release. “The print-on-demand model works out well for us because the city doesn’t need to purchase and manage the inventory. There’s something for every Peorian, including babies and pets.”

The online store will become available on the city’s visitor website, and can be accessed here.
