PHOENIX — A Sedona business has been named one of the best destination spas in the country by a popular travel magazine.

As part of its annual list of the world’s best places, Travel and Leisure compiled a list of the top destination spas in the U.S. and Mii Amo Spa in Sedona came in at No. 8.

The spa was chosen primarily for its beautiful surroundings as it is nestled into the town’s famous red rocks along Boyton Canyon Road, slightly northwest of downtown Sedona.

However, the publication said it also enjoyed the aura-soma color reading, energy clearing and the 90-minute, Native American-inspired New Moon ritual and massage in a wikiup or wigwam.

Mii Amo offers a variety of services, according to its website. In addition to the aforementioned, visitors can partake in a healthy meal in the resort’s cafe, attend a retreat or book packages to cut down on stress levels.

The top spot on Travel and Leisure’s list was handed to the Westglow Resort and Spa in Blowing Rock, North Carolina. It featured a Greek Revival mansion, several luxury homes and a lodge surrounded by miles of forest and looked pretty darn relaxing.

California and New Mexico tied for the most destination spas on the list with two each.
