Main Street Minute: Phoenix arts council awards $865K in grants

The Phoenix Office of Arts and Culture has awarded $865,000 in grant money for 54 nonprofits and cultural groups to spend on their programs.

• The Phoenix Office of Arts and Culture has spread $865,000 in funds among 54 nonprofit and cultural organizations. Grant recipients include the African Association of Arizona, Arab-American Festival, Irish Society of Arizona, Japanese Friendship Garden and Phoenix Blues Society.

• Dress like a cow, get free chicken. In honor of Cow Appreciation Day, Chick-fil-A is giving away entrees Tuesday to very special customers wearing any type of cow attire. The promotions ends at 7 p.m.

• Scottsdale Airport is breaking ground on its terminal area redevelopment project this week. The changes will upgrade and enhance the area near some of the airpark’s largest hangars. The new aviation business center on the west side of the airport will include a public plaza, restaurant, event venue, executive hangars and more.
