PHOENIX — The heat has been merciless in the Phoenix area over the last few weeks, and it doesn’t look like it will ease up anytime soon.

Phoenicians who can’t stand the heat anymore and looking to go on a vacation should choose a city further west. At least, that’s what a travel agency targeting Phoenicians is saying.

According to the Phoenix Business Journal, Travel Portland, has chosen Phoenix as one of three markets for its campaign, “You Can, in Portland.”

“We’re excited to tell our story in Phoenix because the Portland experience offers up a lot of the things that Phoenicians enjoy,” chief marketing officer for Travel Portland Greg Newland told the Journal.

Minneapolis and San Francisco are the other two cities the travel agency is targeting.

According to the Journal, the campaign will come to the city in forms of video content, television and digital ads and social media outreaches.

The Journal reports that Travel Portland is going to launch the campaign at Desoto Central Market in downtown Phoenix.

I lived in Portland for 35 years. Last time I visited, last fall, the streets on the east end of the Hawthorne and Morrison bridges have camp tents on literally every block, most blocks have a dozen or so. People live in them. You walk down those streets and all you smell is the pungent odor of human waste. That neighborhood is industrial warehouses and furniture stores, never a nice area but once a place that was clean and safe. This story is repeated in dozens of other Portland neighborhoods. The light rail (MAX) has stabbings and armed robberies - crimes that were very rare in Portland 30 years ago.

Portland is a living example of what happens when you roll out the welcome mat for Illegal Aliens and all other criminals. Portland welcomes them - and then has NO plan to provide for them or accommodate them once they arrive. Registered sx offenders from all over America move there (and live in tents) because Portland does not bother trying to locate registered offenders that list an address of "homeless".

It was, and still is, a beautiful city but it is tragic how entire parts of town have been turned into crime-infested cesspools.

Seeing firsthand what happened to Portland is one of the reasons, possibly the single biggest reason, that this one-time very partisan Democrat has become a strong Conservative. When you see things with your own eyes, instead of believing what you are told, you evolve and change accordingly.

I lived in Portland 2006-2007. I loved the city. But as a conservative, based on recent media reporting, I know I'm no longer welcome. I'll take a vacation somewhere else. Thanks anyway.

I had to travel there for business often and hated that city. I stopped staying downtown due to the crime and danger and would never be there after dark. It is another DemocRATic Plantation cesspool.
