PHOENIX — In the wake of another terror attack in the United Kingdom, an Arizona congressman is wondering why the United States is not gearing up for war.
“Why aren’t we declaring war on the Islamic State,” U.S. Rep. Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.) asked on KTAR News 92.3 FM’s Reality Check with Darin Damme.
Biggs said, if the threat of ISIS is so real, making the decision to go to war should be relatively simple.
“We galvanize the entire country – we become focused militarily, intelligence-wise – we focus as a nation to have a war,” he said. “If we believe that ISIS is an existential threat to the United States – and that’s the question – if they are, then we should be declaring war.”
However, Biggs was quick to answer his own question. He said the United States refers to the terror group as just that, a group, which makes declaring war more complicated. Other world leaders refer to ISIS as a nation-state.
He also said current attitudes toward political correctness would prove difficult to surmount on the road to war, even if those attitudes do little to stop terrorism.
“As long as you’ve got people who say ‘Love is going to conquer all,’ you’re going to have a problem,” Biggs said.
The congressman said those people — specifically those on the far left and some celebrities — need to take an honest look at the scenario.
“We need people who are big, bad, mean and tough who are going to get in there and take these folks out,” he said. “That’s what we need.”
Biggs said the idea of protecting the country should take precedent over good publicity.
“These people – we have intelligence, we know that these folks are there – but we don’t want to go forward and say, ‘You’re potentially a danger and we need to take care of that,'” he said.
He also said the country needs to, at the least, take a deeper look at the people allowed in.
“I think the bottom line is we have to have a finer filter for people coming in. We do.”
Biggs knows the idea of vetting people — or stop them from coming into the country all together — will not be popular, but he said that’s Congress’ job.
“You don’t go to Congress to make friends. You go to Congress to try to save this country and turn us around.”

The way to defeat ISIS is to not support them like Obama and Hillary were doing. Just the fact that Trump won, and the ISIS black market oil trucking lines into Turkey are wiped out, ISIS is finished. P.S. the deep state are responsible for the brutal religious genocide of hundreds of thousands of Christians in the middle east at the hands of ISIS.
Dear Mr. Damme,
As one of few Golden Ticket of the F.C.C.’s Broadcast license holders, I am confident you are well aware of your responsibilities now.
My Mother recommended I listen to your show, holding you in highest of regards. However, I have been extremely worried about the method of trust we give to our friends and family. When was the last time you told your friends: "I don’t believe that because we need to find the other sideS to this story, then weigh the evidence against logical reason, checking twice that each one of us is of sound mind before making any judgements. ESPECIALLY BEFORE we take ANY action on this, the matter at hand."
I will be the first one to blame myself and we should, I merely suggest as wsdom here, assume such a role if wit is to be victorious in guiding our futures in any direction whatsoever.
It was over two years ago that I read in a comment from some twerp on a separate continent: "All of those yankees are soo STUPID!". I didn’t think it at the time but I felt it, the sudden awakening of patriotism. Since then, I have devoted every waking hour to research, since as a child, I was bullied away from a proper environment in which I could learn. I have now concluded Several things on an ever growing list of qualms.
I have FAR TOO MANY points to discuss with the people to EVER be taken seriously on a show as a caller, so in that regard, I will do my best to distill my message into words for this screen in the hopes that it is NOT just a programmatic wrapper secluding my opinion like a prisoner in this intellectual war. . My name is Scott M. Haddox and you can see my page at any time on the facebook link Back UP, there, and to the left.
I spent 18 years of my life up until now not going ANYWHERE. I refused, REFUSED to run in the wrong direction.
I think the worst thing I’ve done at this point was 1. Act like a fool at times, yelling when in fear, and
2. Payed taxes to support a systematically steady restriction of ALL of OUR RIGHTS, GLOBALLY, Simultaneously FEEDING THE PEOPLE THAT MAKE THEIR WEAPONS, as a GOD forsaken Fast Food Employee.
I know have the mental fortitude to be aware of things most consider crazy. A list of which will be on the facebook page, METILEX. For those whom do not support clicking on a commercial link to facebook, I’ll list but a few points here:
1. I think we are microwaving our cities to death. I have a pot of water outside BOILING. It is night time right now.
2. I have read somewhere that it is illegal in AZ to "conspire against going to work", can ANYBODY VERIFY THIS?
3. Where are the representatives and the lawyers? I’ve called em all, told em’ what I needed a lawyer for and they would refer to a place that referred to another and so it goes. I now do not believe law firms exist nor do I feel that I HAVE a voice anymore, lest I walk to D.C.
4. I have a plan for peace on earth involving music theory and equal temperament of western music and how with the UNDERSTANDING of the MODES we can better control our emotional response to the unexpected. change our electoral system and especially congress, or at least the pace of it.
5. I am writing a few books now. on: My Philosophy, Pythagoras was Jesus.
These topics were all distilled from cases of term papers, historical writings of noted figures and they were and will be compiled into the books with a sound mind using the reasoning god gave me. God is truth and Physics and the study of it is the most efficient means of finding these things out.
Thank you Darrin Damme,
