PHOENIX — The city of Phoenix is bringing the heat on Cinco de Mayo.

According to the National Weather Service of Phoenix, the Valley reached a record-breaking temperature of 108 degrees on Friday. The previous record for May 5 was 105 degrees and was set in 1989.

But there could be a light at the end of the (very hot) tunnel: The National Weather Service is also predicting highs in the mid- to high-70s in the Phoenix area next week, due to a cold front that is expected to move in on Saturday.

Saturday is expected to be windy, so NWS officials urged Phoenix-area residents to keep track of their belongings. A fire advisory was also issued for 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday
