PHOENIX — A lot of people will be pulling up a stool and ordering a pint of green beer on Friday, which is St. Patrick’s Day.
And according Business Insider, one of the best pubs in the country to sip on that beer — though the bartender will likely tell you to order a Guinness instead of green beer — is Rula Bula Irish Pub and Restaurant in downtown Tempe.
Rula Bula, which took over a historic saddlery shop, has been a mainstay along Mill Avenue since it opened.
The bar has long been associated as a place to hang out with friends, grab some Irish eats and listen to live music.
Rula Bula’s name comes from a Gaelic — one of Ireland’s national languages — phrase: “Rí rá agus ruaille buaille,” which translates to “uproar and commotion” when celebrating a good time.
If you want to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day at Rula Bula, the bar is hosting several special events.
The holiday — a Catholic feast day turned into a day of heritage celebration by Irish settlers around the world — has become a day of revelry and fun. Some cities, such as Chicago, take things even further and dye their river green to mark the day.
