PHOENIX — If you were planning to see the Red Hot Chili Peppers at their Phoenix-area concert on Saturday, we’ve got bad news: Your night is now free.

The band announced Thursday that it would be moving the Gila River Arena concert to October to allow lead singer Anthony Kiedis time to recover from an illness.

“We are so sorry that we cannot come to Glendale as planned,” the band said in a statement. “[Kiedis] has been fighting off the bronchitis all week and still needs a few more days to recover. We are sorry for any inconvenience to our fans and look forward to seeing you on Oct. 18.”

Gila River Arena said all tickets for Saturday’s concert would be honored at the Oct. 18 show.
