Main Street Minute: Phoenix’s Packages from Home readies gifts for overseas troops
Phoenix-based Packages from Home and Desert Federal Credit Union have teamed up to send care packages to U.S. troops stationed overseas for the holidays.

• Desert Schools Federal Credit Union has partnered with a local nonprofit to provide gifts and supplies for troops spending the holidays deployed overseas. The credit union has guaranteed a $5,000 matching donation to Packages from Home through Dec. 26 to help ship care packages to military personnel stationed abroad.
• Republic Services has more than 30 openings in the Valley. The garbage-collection company is hiring for maintenance, sales, operations, human resources and more. Applications are available online.
• The Phoenix Business Journal reports work will begin on Sante at Westgate, a senior living community, in April. The site near Glendale and 91st avenues already has a building, an office building that was in foreclosure. It will be renovated.
