He has been in Hawaii all week.
During the ceremony, according to a press release, Ducey made note to the crowd of the memorial to the attack on the grounds of his state’s capitol — a gun barrel from the USS Arizona and one from the USS Misouri.
The governor’s schedule included presenting a wreath at the USS Arizona Memorial. Nearly 1,200 service members killed on the battleship.
He also ordered flags across Arizona be lowered to half-staff in honor of the service members who died that day.
Ducey on Tuesday attended an event on the USS Missouri hosted by the Arizona Medal of Honor Society.
His predecessor, Jan Brewer, also made the annual trip to the site.
