PHOENIX — Police near Scottsdale arrested two people in a car early Thursday after they tried to ram their way past officers.
Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community police said they fired shots at a man and a woman at Talking Stick Resort and Casino near Scottsdale.
No one was hurt in the midnight shooting.
Police said they had become suspicious of a vehicle in a parking garage. As they approached the couple inside, the vehicle took off, nearly running over an officer and some casino patrons.
Officers then tried to block in the vehicle but the driver crashed through. An officer shot at the car.
The vehicle took off again and reached the Loop 101 before it broke down. The unidentified man and woman were taken into custody.
The freeway was shut down at the southbound McKellips Road exit and reopened by 7:30 a.m.
