PHOENIX — A Phoenix-area aerospace company has pulled in a $19 million contract with the U.S. Navy to provide support for satellite operations.
Qwaltec of Tempe said the contract would last for five years. Work was due to start this month for the Navy Satellite Operations Center at installations in Point Magu, California; Colorado Springs, Colo.; Prospect Harbor, Maine; and in Guam.
The company will also be responsible for maintenance services.
“We are thrilled for the opportunity to support the U.S. Navy in their critical US defense mission,” CEO Shawn Linam said in a statement.
Linam was a NASA flight instructor from 1993 to 1996. She co-founded the defense and space-industry company in 2001.
