Man fatally shoots himself outside Phoenix-area hospital

A man was found in his car with self-inflicted gunshot wounds in the parking lot of a Phoenix-area hospital Thursday morning, police said.

PHOENIX — A man was found in his car with self-inflicted gunshot wounds in the parking lot of a Phoenix-area hospital Thursday morning, police said.

Mesa police and fire crews received reports about 10 a.m. of gunshots near the emergency room of Banner Desert Medical Center near Dobson Road and Southern Avenue.

Police said the man was put into an ambulance to receive medical attention but later died due to his injuries.

Mesa police found three shell casings and a gun in the parking lot.

Information about the man’s age and name have yet to be released.
