PHOENIX — Another day, another Phoenix heat record down: The city broke its fourth consecutive daily high temperature record on Monday, the National Weather Service said.

Phoenix’s recent streak of topping heat records began Friday, when the weather service reported a high of 113 degrees at Sky Harbor.

Records were also set on Saturday and Sunday, when the mercury climbed to 115 and 113 degrees, respectively.

Saturday, June 4, was the earliest day Phoenix has hit 115 degrees in recorded history.

The weather service had issued an excessive heat warning prior to the weekend that was in effect until Monday.

Despite the warning, Austin Jamison with the National Weather Service said such heat this time of year is not out of the ordinary.

“These temperatures are about 10 degrees above normal,” he said. “It’s not that we’re looking at epic, record heat.”

Thankfully, it looks like things will relatively cool off by the weekend. The weather service is calling for highs around 100 degrees.
