WB Loop 202 restriction among weekend freeway issues
Jun 3, 2016, 6:00 AM
The Loop 202 Red Mountain Freeway will be narrowed to one lane between Priest Drive and 32nd street this weekend for pavement repair, as it is one of a few road projects Valley residents should avoid this weekend.
The lane restriction will begin at 9 p.m. Friday and continue until 5 a.m. Monday. The Arizona Department of Transportation said that both State Route 143 onramps to the westbound Loop 202 will be closed along with the Northbound State Route 143 on-ramp at Washington Street. ADOT is advising drivers to consider alternate routes including the westbound US 60 to westbound I-10 to get to downtown. ADOT added that drivers approaching the work zone could detour onto local streets including McDowell Road, but heavy delays are expected.
In addition to the Loop 202 project, ADOT advises planning ahead to get around these other projects.
- Northbound Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) narrowed to one lane near McDonald Drive in the Scottsdale area from 10 p.m. Friday to 8 a.m. Saturday (June 4), 10 p.m. Saturday to 8 a.m. Sunday (June 5) and 10 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday (June 6) for pavement repair. DETOUR: Please allow extra travel time and be prepared to slow down and merge safely when approaching the work zone.
- Westbound Interstate 10 on-ramp at 83rd Avenue, westbound I-10 on-ramp at Dysart Road and eastbound I-10 on-ramp at Bullard Avenue closed from 9 p.m. Friday to 9 a.m. Saturday (June 4) for traffic-flow sensor installation. DETOUR: Please plan on using on-ramps at other nearby interchanges.
