Did you know that SRP is essentially a government agency, not a private company like APS? And that landowners in SRP-designated areas elect its board of directors?

If not, you’ve got a lot of company. Only about 3,000 people out of 682,000 eligible landowners cast ballots in the most recent election. And most of those seats are elected on a one acre-one vote basis.

Paul Hirt and Nick Brown are newly-elected SRP directors. They were elected to at-large seats (which means they were elected on the basis of one landowner-one vote). They are also solar advocates and, as such, may well represent an entirely new perspective on the SRP board.

But they may well find themselves in a distinct minority on that board.
