According to a recent press release, State Route 67 will reopen for the summer on May 15.

The 40-mile roadway, which stretches from Jacob Lake to the North Rim of Grand Canyon National Park, was closed in December for the winter.

The Arizona Department of Transportation closed the roadway because it does not clear snow from the roadway if visitor services are also closed.

Grand Canyon’s visitor services, which includes a lodge and visitor center, will also reopen on Sunday. The North Rim gate will reopen at 7:30 a.m. and services will begin at 8 a.m.

The South Rim of the Grand Canyon remained open for the winter.
