PHOENIX — Ever wonder what the most popular job in your state is? Well, for those who live in 40 states, that one is easy: retail salesperson. By a landslide.

But how about the most unpopular job in your state? Even more specifically, what about the most disproportionately popular job in your state?

(I know, weird data, but just go with it.)

According to a recent report from Business Insider, the most disproportionately popular career in Arizona is — drumroll, please — plasterers!

Plasterers?

Yes, you read that right, plasterers. Apparently a lot of people need a lot of things plastered in Arizona, because there is a greater rate of plasterers in Arizona than the rate in the country as a whole.

The data, compiled by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, found that more than 1,500 people were employed as plasterers in Arizona during May 2015.

The bureau also found that plasterers earn an average annual wage of $27,690 with a median hourly wage of $12.73.

Some of the other odd and disproportionately popular jobs found were telephone operators in Utah, shampooers in New Jersey, locker and dressing room attendants in Missouri and tour guides in Hawaii (gee, I wonder why.)

So, next time you come across an occupational therapy aide, remember that they most likely come from Illinois.
