PHOENIX — Authorities said a suspect who fired at police officers in suburban Phoenix this week was also wanted in connection with a triple homicide in western Arizona.
Kitage Lynch, 24, was accused of opening fire on Glendale police officers Wednesday morning near 95th Avenue and Camelback Road. The officers were unhurt but one patrol vehicle was struck by gunfire.
Lynch was listed as homeless and faces two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and a count of discharging a firearm within city limits for the Glendale shooting. Neighbors had called police to report someone was shooting and shouting in the area.
Court documents showed Lynch fired four shots at officers with a gun that authorities in La Paz County said was stolen from one of the three murder victims. They had all been shot to death.
The documents also showed that Lynch was driving a stolen car that belonged to one of the victims.
The victims were a married couple and a woman staying in separate homes.
Each home ransacked and several weapons, along with hundreds and perhaps thousands of rounds of ammo, were found in and around the stolen car.
La Paz County Sheriff’s Department Lt. Curt Bagby said those killings apparently occurred last weekend when the victims were the only people staying at the property southeast of Salome.
The desert property is often used by Phoenix-area residents for weekend getaways.
KTAR’s Jim Cross and the Associated Press contributed to this report.
