PHOENIX — A procession bringing all of the bodies of the 19 firefighters killed over the weekend while fighting the Yarnell Hill Fire will cause closures in downtown Phoenix on Monday, police said.
Jefferson is closed at Ninth Avenue and Eighth Avenue is closed between Washington and Madison. The closures are expected to remain in place for the next several hours. No reopening time has been given.
The bodies are being transported to the Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The Yarnell Hill Fire, sparked Friday by lightning, has burned over 8,300 acres near Prescott, Ariz. Officials estimated that 200 homes were destroyed.
