See some of the best Super Bowl ads before the big game

Watching commercials has become as much a part of Super Bowl viewing tradition as the football game itself to many fans.

This year’s batch of ads, as usual, feature a lot of humor.

Most of the ads were released online days before the game and the head start has helped several of them collect millions of hits apiece.

Here are some of the really good ones:

Hyundai

This is wicked funny.

Hyundai’s “Smaht Pahk,” stars Chris Evans, John Krasinski and Rachel Dretch, all Boston-area natives poking fun at the area’s famed accent.

The commercial had racked up more than 20 million hits in four days.

Mountain Dew

Bryan Cranston and Tracee Ellis Ross parody the 1980 big-screen horror hit, “The Shining.”

A fearful Ross has barricaded herself in a bathroom, just like Shelley Duvall’s character when crazy hubby Jack Nicholson came after with an ax.

“Here’s Johnny” gets a new take from Cranston.

Cheetos

If you can get iconic rapper MC Hammer in your ad, you really need to do that. Hammer pops up all over in this commercial of a guy who gets out of doing everything because his fingers are covered in bright orange Cheetos dust.

Hammer shows up to sing the most memorable part of his most popular song.

Budweiser

The beer king went the feel-good route. The voiceover practically sneers when he repeatedly describes characteristics of a “typical American.” But the visuals reflect love and joy; people being kind and thoughtful to one another; and overcoming obstacles.

Amazon

Ellen DeGeneres wonders what everyone did before smart speaker Alexa came onto the scene.

Wow, times were not pretty.

Pepsi

What better way to brag that you have changed colors on a soda can than to remake a classic Rolling Stones song with singer-songwriter H.E.R. and rapper Missy Elliott?

Their version of “Paint It Black” is red-hot.
