After all the champagne is gone, the food is consumed and the guests have departed, a lot of us will be looking forward to a relaxing New Year’s Day.

And there are few better ways to relax than with a movie. But rather than scrolling through Netflix and arguing with your significant other about which obscure documentary to watch, why not take in one of the better movies of the year?

We had our resident Phoenix Film Society member and reviewer Bruce St. James give his rundown of the 10 best movies of the year and put them, in order, below.

For each one, we included either Bruce’s review or the film’s trailer, so you know what you’re getting yourself into.

Happy watching, happy 2015 and we look forward to seeing you in the new year!
