Numerous reports of possible shooting incidents along Interstate 10 Saturday turned out to be nothing more than road debris, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

On Saturday reports circulated of windows possibility being shot out near I-10 and 83rd Avenue and again at I-10 and 32nd Avenue. Later in the afternoon, there were reports of a pickup-truck carrying a family having its rear window being blown out near I-10 and 91st Avenue.

DPS Public Information Officer, Bart Graves later confirmed that possible incidents occurring Saturday were from road debris that are commonly found along Arizona highways.

Nevertheless, a rock hitting a windshield is nothing normal for Valley motorists, who’s nerves have been rattled by a series of freeway shootings that have occurred since Aug. 29.

DPS has confirmed that 11 incidents have occurred on Valley freeways. On Friday authorities detained Oscar de La Torre Munoz, 19, of Avondale as a person of interest and later placed him under arrested on suspicion of possession of marijuana.

Munonz is still currently being held with no bond and his next court date is scheduled for Sept. 18.

Earlier on Saturday, DPS announced that Munonz is not a prime suspect in its investigation, but did say he is still being considered as a person of interest.

Later in the day, DPS Director Col. Frank Milstead said the investigation is continuing and the department still needs everyone’s ongoing support and the vigilance and patience of the community.

State troopers have been patrolling freeways from early morning to night.

A $20,000 reward has been posted for information leading to the arrest of the suspected serial shooter.

DPS can be contacted at 602-644-5805.
