Phoenix launches community improvement website

Phoenix residents now have an easier way to send in their ideas to improve their community.

The city has launched a new website,, which is part of the city’s plan to get the community more involved.

“[People] can get on there and we say, ‘What’s your best idea for Phoenix,'” said Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton. “Something that’s stuck in your craw for a long time that’s going on in your neighborhood. Let us know. We’re going to try to fix it. We want to incorporate all of those ideas. We want people not to set their sights low, we want them to be set very high.”

Residents can also share their suggestions with the city via Facebook and Twitter.

Stanton said the ideas will help the city create a general plan concerning planing and zoning, parks, libraries and sustainability.

News/Talk 92.3 KTAR’s Mac & Gaydos asked users to provide their input on the show’s Facebook page, and some of the best answers are given below.

Melody Crone: We need a theme park, more things to do. I know in the summer most people don’t want to be outdoors but coming from San Diego where there is so much to do and places like Disneyland and Knotts Berry Farm or Magic Mtn are a quick drive away it would be nice to have something like that here. There’s just not much to do that makes me want to go to Phoenix for any reason and some of the neighborhoods scare me

Tom Markee: Make Downtown Phoenix more like Scottsdale and Mill Ave. A.S.U. built all these additions to the school downtown. Phoenix should increase the night life and shopping in the area. As an example a small Phoenix marketplace.

Eric VonHelda: Please Preserve more of our older & unique buildings. It helps establish a sence of history and connection.

The plan with community contributions will be voted on in two years.
