Defense: No evidence of Hamptons rape to support charges

RIVERHEAD, N.Y. (AP) — A defense attorney says there are inconsistencies in an Irish tourist’s testimony that she was raped in 2013 by a New York City investment banker she met at a Hamptons nightclub.

Closing arguments began Tuesday in the non-jury trial of former Goldman Sachs executive Jason Lee. He has pleaded not guilty to raping a 20-year-old woman in the bathroom of his East Hampton rental home.

Prosecutors say Lee met the woman at a nightclub. She and friends went to Lee’s home following a night of drinking.

Lee is accused of sexually assaulting the woman in the bathroom while her brother and friend were in the house.

Defense attorney Andrew Lanker says the sex was consensual, the woman’s story has changed and there is no evidence to the victim’s rape claims.
