Heidi Hommel

Heidi Hommel received her Bachelor's in Journalism from Northern Arizona University in 2017. She then went on to earn her Masters in Communication with an emphasis in Documentary Film Studies in 2019. As a graduate student at NAU Heidi taught a broadcasting course "Announcing in the Media." She's worked as a reporter for the Arizona Daily Sun and as a multimedia journalist for NAZ Today covering stories local to Flagstaff. After moving back to Phoenix in 2019, Heidi spent two years as a copywriter and national producer for NBC News Radio. She then spent one year pursuing her love for filmmaking as a real estate videographer before getting her start anchoring for KTAR on the weekends. She quickly worked her way up to the evening anchor and eventually a reporter. She loves covering stories about politics, the economy, and the environment. When she's not working or consuming the news, you can find Heidi hiking on the many trails the Sonora desert has to offer or taking horseback riding lessons.
